floGPT AI Receptionist for Mews
floGPT answers your property's phone with an AI voice agent that can check availability, quote rates, look up and create reservations, raise service requests, and hand off to your team. Connecting Mews lets the agent work from your live inventory instead of a static script.
How to sign up#
- Create a floGPT account at flogpt.com. No credit card is required to connect Mews and run test calls.
- During onboarding, choose the Hospitality vertical.
- Give the AI agent a phone number. You can buy one inside floGPT or forward your existing line — the onboarding flow covers both.
How to connect Mews for the first time#
-
In Mews, open Marketplace and enable floGPT. Mews issues an access token that identifies your property.
-
In floGPT, go to Integrations → Property Management System.
-
Select Mews.
-
Paste the access token from step 1. Two optional fields sit beneath it:
- Service ID — the bookable service, usually Accommodation. Leave blank and floGPT discovers it on connect.
- Use demo environment — set to
trueto point at the Mews demo environment while piloting.
You are never asked for a client token: floGPT's own client credential is configured per deployment, so properties neither see nor enter it.
-
Choose which capabilities the AI agent may use. Nothing is granted implicitly: you tick the ones you want, and you can start read-only and add booking later.
-
Press Connect. floGPT verifies the token against Mews immediately and shows any error inline rather than failing later on a live call.
-
Optionally enable webhooks. Mews supports them, so copy the webhook URL floGPT shows after connecting into your Mews integration settings, then paste the signing secret back into floGPT. This makes the agent react to bookings as they happen instead of waiting for the next sync.
-
Place a test call and ask about availability. The agent should answer from your real inventory.
Your credentials are encrypted at rest and are never displayed again after saving.
What the integration does#
Once connected, the AI voice agent can:
- Check availability for a date range and occupancy
- Quote a rate, including the cancellation policy attached to it
- Find a reservation by confirmation number or guest name
- Create a reservation
- Modify or cancel a reservation
- Retrieve a folio to answer billing questions
- List arrivals so the agent knows who is expected
- Raise a service request against a stay, for housekeeping and similar follow-ups
Every one of these is optional. The agent can only do what you ticked during setup, and the capability list is enforced on floGPT's servers — it is not merely hidden in the interface.
Limitations#
- Availability and rates are read live at call time. floGPT keeps no shadow copy of your inventory, so an answer is only ever as current as the Mews API response.
- The agent does not take payment over the phone. Reservations are created without card capture; collect payment through your normal Mews flow.
- One property per connection. Each property issues its own access token, so multi-property groups connect each one separately.
- Write capabilities are refused when they were not granted, cancellations included. If the agent says it cannot cancel a booking, check the granted capabilities first.
- Rate plan and room category names are read from Mews verbatim. If they are internal codes, the agent will say internal codes — rename them in Mews for guest-facing clarity.
- Group bookings and complex multi-room itineraries are handed to a human rather than attempted.
- Webhook deliveries carry record identifiers only. floGPT fetches the reservation itself before acting, so a delivery that arrives while Mews is unreachable is retried rather than acted on with partial data.
How to disconnect#
From floGPT. Go to Integrations → Property Management System → Mews and press Disconnect. This deletes the stored access token, stops all polling, discards the webhook signing secret so later deliveries are rejected, and immediately prevents the AI agent from using any Mews capability. Calls are still answered — the agent falls back to taking a message.
From Mews. Remove floGPT's access token in Mews under Marketplace. floGPT detects the revoked token on its next request and marks the connection as disconnected, with the reason shown on the integration screen. No background polling continues against a revoked token.
Reconnecting later is the same flow as the first connection, with a freshly issued token.
